Fix: Friend or Foe

Objective:

Students will analyze Fix's role in the narrative.

Structure:

Is Fix an ally or an adversary to Phileas Fogg? Is he hindering Fogg's efforts to travel around the world in eighty days, or is he a critical factor to Fogg's success. Have each student compose a list with two columns. In one column the student will list all of the evidence from the text that suggests that Fix is an adversary of Fogg's. In the other column, the student should list the ways in which Fix is a friend (or at least, an asset).
