From Soil to Society: Nurturing Plants and Minds for a Greener Tomorrow
What have you done to make your school or your community a better place?
The process of watering my houseplant grounds me. I believe that every plant lives its own story, just like the eight million different forms of life that inhabit the Earth. As I learn more about the life cycle of my plant and the support Aurora needs, I have developed a deeper appreciation for nature and an understanding of how our own lives mimic theirs. Like humans, plants are not always blooming but seek constant validation. As a new environmental activist, it is important for me to educate myself as well as my peers.
My friends and I launched The Tomorrow Project Los Angeles, a student-operated, nonprofit organization that aims to inspire sustainable practices in future generations through education and experiential learning. We partner with the youth of our community in Los Angeles by engaging with our local primary schools to address and foster climate action. We also host workshops with the desire of empowering fellow students and enhancing the mindsets of the leaders of tomorrow to take action and be conscious of their decisions to help our planet.
