Like a ball of wool
Sanna is thinking about love and marriage, and the role of German women who are supposed to be wives and mothers. She thinks about the position of love where there are laws that monitor it, and if maybe the safest thing to do is not love at all. She is confused and her head is filled with random thoughts like a ball of wool that she must knit into words.
Queen on the throne of white pillows
Sanna describes her brother's wife Liska, who is accustomed to wealth and comfort. Liska likes to, from time to time, pretend that she is ill so that she can live like a queen of a throne of white pillows, to be spoiled and taken care of with all the possible luxury. Interesting is the opinion of her husband, who believes that all women are harem inmates at heart, who don't like to work or think and just laze around.
Red scarf like blood
After Franz tells Sanna what he'd done, she immediately jumps into thinking of a plan to escape. She has images in front of her eyes, of Franz being executed for committing murder. She sees the red scarf around his neck and all she can see is red blood flowing from his neck.
