When religious extremists leave planet Earth for a new planet, they believe that they have done enough research and they have adequate technology to enable them to reach their destination safely. The religious extremists want to colonize a new planet in outer space. Ironically, when the religious extremists arrive at the mysterious alien gate, they realize that the technology they intended to use is hazardous. Therefore, they are forced to change their plan and return to Earth.
The irony of Melba’s family
The first time the reader comes across Melba's family, it controls several cities in the alien world. Melba's father is later sent to prison, where he waits to die. Melba's mother, who initially lived as a queen, is now living in an undisclosed miserable place where she is waiting to die. Melba, who intended to inherit her family's wealthy estates, is now a terrorist.
The irony of Holden and his crew
When the United Nations sends Holden and his crew into outer space, it knows that these are the most experienced scientists who will not encounter resistance in their mission. Ironically, when Holden and his crew arrive at the alien gate, they are faced with strong resistance and are scared to death. Therefore, Holden realizes that the alien forces must be studied again keenly before attempting to investigate their purpose again.
The irony of Human Ambition vs. Consequences
The conflict between human ambition and its repercussions is a major subject in Abaddon's Gate. The irony is in how the Ring's very quest for advancement and discovery can have unforeseen negative effects like heightened conflict and ethical quandaries. Ironically, pursuing expansion and knowledge leads to more complexity and risk, which reflects the frequently contradictory character of human undertakings.
