    Why were Beah and his fellow soldiers so critical of the UNICEF agents and military police that picked them up from the frontline?

    The boy soldiers saw the MPs and UNICEF agents as civilians with no real combat training. They did not like being told what to do by people that had not seen combat. They saw themselves as above them. The boys were prideful of their time in the army and thought that they deserved respect. Instead, they were being forced out of this life by people they didn't know and didn't understand their experiences.
