Discuss the weather conditions before, during, and after Uhuru. What may this symbolise?
The night before Uhuru, what starts as a light drizzle turns into a full blown thunderstorm with heavy rain and strong winds. The storm last all night, with decaying roofs freely letting rain into many huts. Tress were uprooted, while others broke at the stems, or lost branches. Crops were damaged; potato and bean crops lay everywhere in the valley, while the leaves of maize plants that were still standing were lacerated into shreds.
