Feminism’s role in society

Feminism is often accused of discrediting traditional values and a so called traditional society in which a leading role belongs to men. Some people are afraid of the changes that feminism might bring, for it threatens to transform their lives too. No matter what will happen in the future, we can’t ignore the fact that the traditional masculine world has to undergo lots of changes, for us – females and males regardless of race, age, religion, and cultural background – to live peacefully. It just happened so that feminist were the first ones to start a discussion about much needed changes in our society.

Purity

Almost every religion teaches that people are created in God’s image; thus, the mere thought of relation between us and animals seems to be humiliating for us. It is a pleasant feeling to know that the whole world – nature with all its wonders – has been created for us, that we are entitled to rule it as we wish. The problem with cyborgs is that they question our uniqueness. The concept of purity – thus, human exceptionalism – is destroyed. Sooner or later, we will be made to change our idea of this world and accept the fact that we are not the sole owners of this world.

Gods and goddesses

As it has been already mentioned, people are not ready to say goodbye to an idea of their exceptionalism. No matter how flattering this concept is, no matter what we think of it, life itself makes us question our believes and morality. Though a concept of being a God’s image is extremely appealing, it cannot stand a test of modernity. We must decide what we want: continue treasuring an idea of mankind’s uniqueness or accept a fact of us being just a little part of the Great Universe. We are not gods and goddess, just people.
