Structure:
Split students into six groups. Have each group take a look at two of the original illustrations from Dickens' first edition, which are available here: http://www.bl.uk/romantics-and-victorians/articles/the-origins-of-a-christmas-carol
Students should annotate the images using a program like Voicethread. As they annotate, students should consider in the questions:
- What do they see in the images?
- How do the images enhance or change the tone of the story? The characters?
