Structure:

After Dickens' book was published in December 1843, it quickly spawned theatrical adaptations. By February, eight plays were being performed in theaters. Dickens approved of these plays, because he wanted the story made available to a lower-class readership. In fact, Dickens gave dramatic readings himself, which included different voices for the characters and finger-puppets for old Fezziwig's ball.
