    Students will explore the history of leprosy, including its cultural stigmas and treatments.

    Students will trace the characterization and development of major characters and will examine why some characters are developed more thoroughly than others.

    Students will articulate and discuss the novel's overarching themes.

  5. 5

    Students will examine the novel's colonial setting and the stance it takes towards European colonialism in Africa.
