A paleontologist, Neil is the author and narrator of this book. He is credited with the finding of a very old fish fossil from 400 million years ago and has written many scientific papers on it.

Sir Richard Owen

A scientist in England who helped to discover and classify fossils that were found. He was the leading anatomist in the field of comparative anatomy in the mid-1800s.

Ted Daeschler

Neil's student and partner who helped find fossils that lead them to the arctic circle and the surrounding area.

Dr. Farish A. Jenkins, Jr.

Neil's graduate advisor. He aided in the expedition to the arctic circle in search of new fossils.
