About the Author

Lois Gould was an American writer known for her contributions to women's literature. She attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts before becoming a reporter for the Long Island-Star Journal. In 1955, she married New York Times reporter Philip Benjamin, with whom she had two children. Benjamin died suddenly in 1966. Upon his death, Gould discovered a diary of his written in code. She cracked the code and discovered Benjamin had filled the diary with descriptions of his infidelities, some of which were with Gould's friends. This experience became the inspiration behind her novel Such Good Friends, published in 1970 and adapted into a film in 1971.
