Winter's Heart Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Amulet as a symbol of savior

The author figuratively uses a special amulet to represent the power to save a life. The readers realize that Mat is in danger because Gholam (a humanoid monster) is after his life. Paradoxically, the monster is scared of Mat's amulet, and it runs away, leaving Mat to see another day. Consequently, Mat is saved by the amulet he always wears without knowing it can scare dangerous enemies.

The symbolism of authority and heroism

One outstanding character that cannot be ignored is Rand al’Thor, also referred to as the Dragon Reborn. Rand has the power to diver power and can bring the world back to order. Throughout the series, the author depicts Rand as a hero and central character whose role is to impact society positively. Despite the different factions that threaten the world's stability, the reader finds Rand, a vital player in bringing stability towards the end of the series.

The power of a woman

The authority of women in the series cannot go unrecognized because Aes Sedai is a character who threatens men of all calibers. Aes Sedai also can channel power in the city to achieve desired goals. The author uses Aes Sedai figuratively to show that what a man does, a woman can do better, and this is a waking-up call for ladies to step up and favorably compete with men in all fields.
