"It isn't easy, but it's worth it."
Bobbi says this to Cheryl after her daughter asks how she could live her life with an abusive asshole. She tells her daughter that she got her and her brother out of it so, she endured it as long as she could.
"My mother used to say something that drove me nuts, 'There's a sunrise and a sunset every day, and you can choose to be there for it. You can put yourself in the way of beauty.'"
Cheryl says this after her mother has passed away. She is on the Pacific Crest Trail and discovery deep things about herself in the midst of all of it she begins to understand her mother's wisdom. The same things that drove her nuts are the things that she needs now.
"Because...just because."
Paul says this to Cheryl after she asks him why he even came to get her. He's rescued her from a man she's moved to Oregon with and has been using heroine with. His statement is simple, but there is far more under the surface. His because is filled with love, deep love. The mature kind of love that no matter how bad he's been hurt by Cheryl he is still willing to pull her out of the depths of hell and help her find life again.
