Miles believes that the government data about drug abuse is political and misleading. Therefore, Miles, his girlfriend, and a friend working in the LCD factory try acid and compares its effects with marijuana.
Carole
Carole is the girlfriend of Miles, and she uses drugs. Together with Miles, Carole experiments the effects of LCD drugs with marijuana. Carole also travels with Miles to Mexico on vacation, but they are shocked to learn that life is harder and dangerous than home.
Reggie
Reggie is Miles's close friend. Miles introduces Carole to him as his girlfriend for the first time, and he urges him to treat her with decorum and care. Reggie is a vibrant young man belonging to the hippy generation who is focused on exploring the world by experimenting with drugs and other substances.
Sam
Sam is a friend to Carole and Miles. They are all youths who are experimenting with life through addiction because they do not agree with the government data regarding the abuse of drugs. These teens want to document their effects of drug abuse and compare their records with government findings.
Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin is a man who first meets Carole and Miles back at the flat. He looks at them and walks inside without speaking to them. Before walking inside, Benjamin focuses his attention on Carole, but he remains silent.

Herb Alpert is the architect of the first Latin guitar chords, 'What Now My Love.' He is an entertainer, and Miles and Carole, alongside their friends, get an opportunity to be entertained by him.
The Mafia
The Mafias are superior drug addicts who are comprised of young people. Miles, Carole, and their friends are still new to this industry because they are experimenting to get a good combination of the drug that can easily put them in high spirits.

Mentioning Jesus Christ in the context of drug dealings seems sarcastic, but Miles mentions Him to show his superiority. Consequently, Miles and his friends know that what they are doing is wrong, but they purposely explore the world and disapprove of the government.
