Poets and poetry
The poem “Ode” or often titled as “We are the Music Makers" is a poem that contains the main theme of the poetry itself, referring to, and celebrating poets and their art. The title itself reveals this intent of celebration of poets, as the ode is a song of praise. It celebrates the way poets contribute to the world, history and dreams of the future. They bring joy as music makers, they build the world’s great cities and give inspiration.
Sorrow
“Fountain of Tears” is a poem where the main theme is sorrow, human sadness and depression. It metaphorically describes the process of sorrow (depression) and how time and space loses its meaning when a person is engulfed in sorrow. It describes how other “stronger” individuals are unable to understand it and the loneliness it brings.
Love
“A Love Symphony” is a lyric poem about love. The speaker of the poem is a love struck individual who daydreams about his lover. With the use of nature, and the stylistic figures such as onomatopoeia, personification, hyperbole and metaphoric language the lover expresses his emotion. The title of the poem introduces it as a symphony, which means that it has musical elements to it.
