Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger Summary

Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger Summary

Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger is composed of thirty separate, but interconnected stories that involve the kids and teachers in the eponymous Wayside School. "Pet Day" follows the students of Wayside School, who one day decide to bring their pets to school. However, the pets have very strange and unique names which Mrs. Jewls finds hard to pronounce. Confusion ensues.

"Stupid" tells the story of Ron, who Miss Nogard overhears saying that he hadn't completed his homework. In an attempt to humiliate him and get him to learn his lesson, Miss Nogard continuously calls on Ron during their review session. This is Miss Nogard's typical modus operandi: she invariably calls on students who haven't done their homework and get questions wrong.

She also gives students who get questions wrong three pages of homework and instructs the students to redo the homework that didn't complete in the past. But the students, including Ron, don't take too kindly to this and turn on Miss Nogard, who is forced to listen to their thoughts. Each story in Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger is whimsical, funny, and energetic. Almost always, they follow students and teachers in strange and unique situations.
