Tristan
The main protagonist and the namesake of the book, Tristan is the love child of Lord of Parmenie Rivalin and a woman named Blancheflor. Tristan is a headstrong and intelligent man who is capable of doing both violent and deeply good and romantic things.
After he accidentally ingests a love potion, Tristan quickly falls for a young woman named Isolde.
Isolde
Isolde shares the name of her mother, Queen Isolde, who was the one that created the love potion which would force Tristan to fall in love with her daughter, the younger Isolde. Like Tristan, she is intelligent, headstrong, and a romantic but doesn't actually need a love potion to fall in love with Tristan, with whom she becomes infatuated.
