What does Cole learn from doing the "whale dance"?

Cole initially feels uncomfortable and self-conscious about doing a dance in front of Edwin and Garvey. He is skeptical about what he could possibly learn from an activity he thinks seems rather silly. However, when he does begin to dance, Cole actually feels he learns a lot from the experience. Cole thinks about how whales migrate but have no permanent home. Cole realizes he feels a sense of kinship with the whales. He also experiences the kind of lack of self-consciousness that he felt after the Spirit Bear's attack.
