What is the structure of the Scene 2? Is it an effective transition from Scene 1?
This scene is structured as one standalone dialogue. The audience knows Marlene from her appearance in Scene 1, but we are introduced to Jeanine through Marlene's acknowledgment of the woman. Like Scene 1, this scene picks up at the beginning of the dialogue.
How effective this scene is as a transition is subjective. On the one hand, it effectively brings the reader into reality (and into the present time, as the dinner party included characters from throughout history). Marlene seamlessly transitions from being the hostess of the dinner party to the "hostess" of the employment agency....
