“Time Salvager” is a science fiction novel written by Wesley Chu. The novel is set in a dystopian world and explores the theme of time travel. It is part of a series of the same title.
The novel follows James, an almost retired cronman, who is chosen as a key for a humanity-saving mission. A cronman is a person able to travel through time, and retrieve resources necessary for survival on the present, decaying Earth. The main rule of time-traveling is that they aren’t allowed to do anything that may disturb the sequence of time. On his mission to a previous century, James meets a woman called Elise and, against his best judgement, brings her into the present. The two of them become fugitives.
The novel explores themes of the possibilities of time-travel, the destruction of Earth’s resources and life in general, and human survival. It was first published in 2015.
