The Yellow Arrow Irony

The Yellow Arrow Irony

The satire of ‘The Yellow Arrow’ train

Andrei and the fellow passengers are riding in a train called 'The Yellow Arrow.' The reader realizes that the train is traveling towards a ruined bridge. Ironically, Andrei and other passengers know that the train is headed to the ruined bridge, but they are not shocked!

The ritual of throwing the dead out of the train’s window

The reader finds it sarcastic that the passengers who die in the train are thrown out through the window when they die while on transit. It beats logic when the passengers in the train make up their minds to throw dead bodies out of the window instead of allowing the deceased kin to give them a respectable send-off.

Andrei’s initial conversation with Khan

The satire of life is manifested in the initial conversation between Andrei and Khan. The reader finds it ironic that Andrei does not realize the passage of time because he argues that nothing has changed in the last five years. However, life is not constant because it keeps on rotating like the wheels of the train.

The ruined bridge

The reader asks the question, ‘Why should the train travel across a ruined bridge?’ and the reader finds it satirical that a loaded train with passengers is persistent in passing through a ruined bridge. The people inside the train know that the bridge is ruined, but they are silent, waiting for their demise.
