Danny
Danny used to be Ethan's friend and has now become an alcoholic. He dies as a result of intoxication after Ethan gives him the money to do so.
Ethan's son
At the end of the text, Ethan discovers that his son won a competition for an essay that he had plagiarized. However, Ethan's son does not feel any remorse, which reflects Ethan's own lack of remorse.
The store owner
