    What are the similarities between Violet Westing and Angela Wexler? Why might they be significant to the story?

    One theme that arises is that history repeats itself, and this can be most clearly seen in the connection between Violet and Angela. We have learned that they are both from the same family and that both were considered very pretty; both girls' mothers arranged marriages for their daughters more for their personal ambitions than for love; both girls also had their own life dreams that were undermined by their mothers' ambitions.
