The Wandering Fire is a fantasy novel written by Canadian writer Guy Gavriel Kay. It was published in 1986 as the second book in The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy following The Summer Tree (1984). It was followed by the final book The Darkest Road (1986).
The five students have to once more return to Fionavar and face the evil force that is wreaking havoc in the realm. Following the escape of Rakoth Maugrim or Unraveller in the first book, he punishes the land with eternal winter. Through a mage with a powerful source of magic, the Unraveller enacts vengeance upon the Weaver and every being in the tapestry. Each of the five students has their work cut out for them as they perform roles according to their abilities. For instance, Dave joins the battle while Kimberly summons dead people such as King Arthur and Lancelot to aid with the fight. Meanwhile, Jennifer inherits the memories of Guinevere, which changes the trajectory of her story.
The novel reenacts the legends of King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot within the story and also includes the folklore of the Wild Hunt. In 1987, the book won both the Prix Aurora Award and the Casper Award.
