The Time Machine (1960 Film) Irony

Future

George has traveled 800,000 years into the future where war no longer exists. Ironically, when the people who inhabit earth hear bomb sirens they walk into a temple under the belief that they will be safe, when in reality they are being killed by going in.

Eureka!

George has invented a time machine that works. Ironically, his colleagues call his incredible creation a "contraption," nothing more than an item capable of being used to make money through capitalism.

David

George, on his first use of the time machine, goes to the year 1917 and sees his friend David. Ironically, it is David's son and George finds out that David has been killed in the war.

Drowning

Weena is seen by George drowning in a river. Ironically, there are people all around who are witnessing it, but they don't do anything to help her and he must save her himself.

Books

George is excited that there are books he can read in the extreme distant future. However, when he goes to read them they crumble into dust. Ironically, the people have stopped growing and learning.
