What appear to be d'Artagnan's defining character traits? How do those traits seem to get him into trouble?
From the beginning of the book, d'Artagnan's defining personality traits appear to be pride, recklessness, and an almost uncanny ability to get mixed up in things. His encounter with the unknown man in Meung shows that he is also willing to stay true to his father's advice and never back down from a fight, even when it puts his life at risk. Although these character traits later earn him respect, they also get him in over his head with people more powerful and dangerous than he is.
