Students will analyze critical flashbacks presented within the story and the ways in which they contribute to the narrative.

Structure:
The entirety of The Tempest takes place on an isolated island over a period of less than a day. However, we hear a lot about a series of events that happened twelve years previously. We don't see these earlier events--we merely hear the characters talking about what happened at this time--but these events play a large role in the story none-the-less.
