The Stud Imagery

Hobo

Hobo is filled with night parties where all types of customers come to have fun. Tony is among the people who hang around purposely to catch up with beautiful girls in the area. The description of Hobo depicts the sense of sight to readers. Tony says, “Something is fascinating about the beginning of the evening – well, the beginning of my evening, usually about ten-thirty, eleven o’clock. Every night at Hobo is like a party – a great party where everyone knows and likes everyone else.”

Golden-haired girls

The description of the girls who attend the evening parties creates a scene that aids the reader in visualizing how beautiful the party is. The author writes, "Then everyone sits around waiting for the swingers and about twelve-thirty, one o'clock, they start arriving. Golden-haired girls in cowboy outfits, Indian gear, boots, backless topless see-through dresses. The wider, the better."

The Imagery of Growing up

Tony's growing up is not different from the other struggling families because he relates how he watched the fights in their home between parents. Similarly, Tony recounts watching the street fights, and this forms part of his growing experience. Tony's growing experience creates scenery of hardship childhood. Tony says, "Well, to begin with, I had the same useless tough life as most of the kids in my neighborhood – fighting in the back streets, watching in on the fights at home.”

Imagery of Hearing

Tony's behavior of messing with other people's girls hurt his parents. Every other day, Sam and Sadie get information that Tony has had sex with a neighbor’s daughters, which is a traumatizing experience to parents. The worst incident to these parents is when Tony sleeps with his cousin, and his uncle immediately terminates his contract and informs Sam and Sadie. Tony's parents scream at him with disgust. Tony does nothing bit to keep quiet and listen. The sense of hearing is depicted to the reader when Tony says, “By this time, Sam and Sadie were getting a bit fed up with me, and who could blame them? Sam stopped screaming at Sadie and stared at me.”
