Joanna Eberhart
Joanna Eberhart is the mother of two children and is married to Walter Eberhart. She is a woman who enjoys her personal hobbies such as tennis and is a professional photographer. In addition, she is active in “the Women’s Lib movement”. The story beings when she and her family move from New York City to the idyllic Stepford.
Walter Eberhart
Walter Eberhart is married to Joanna Eberhart and is one of the main co-characters in the book. He has two children whom he loves very much. Walter is a corporate lawyer and interested in the events and working of the town, which is why he joins the Men’s association, a club in which all and only the men in the town are welcome.
Bobbie Mar-kowe
Bobbie Mar-kowe is another newcomer in town, without any of the Stepford elements in her household. Bobbie is a wife and the mother of a son. She and Joanna Eberhart try to form a woman’s group to no avail, and she is later transformed into a Stepford wife. Towards the ending of the book, it is Bobbie Mar-kowe who attacks Joanna Eberhart, which is how she also turns into a housewife.
