In this work, Dr. Sandra L. Barnes, a professor of Urban Sociology at Vanderbilt University, provides a sociological analysis on "The Souls of Black Folk." Through a sociological lens, she provides an analysis on racism and race relations, economic inequalities, political disenfranchisement, education and religion. She provides a lens with which to critically analyze "The Souls of Black Folk" that is not purely historical.
