The Sign of the Beaver Imagery

The Sign of the Beaver Imagery

The imagery of Matt

The book commences with imagery when describing the standing position of matt when his father was out of sight. The author writes, "Matt stood at the edge of the clearing for some time after his father had gone out of sight among the trees. There was just a chance that his father might turn back, that perhaps he had forgotten something or had some last word of advice."

The imagery of hearing

Matt’s reckoning listening to his father’s advice depicts the sense of sight to readers. The author writes, “This was one time Matt reckoned he wouldn’t mind the advice, no matter how many times he heard it before.”

The imagery of the log house

Matt describes the log house to paint an image in the readers' minds. The author says, "He turned and looked back at the log house. It was a modest house, he thought; his mother would have no cause to be ashamed of it. He had helped to build every inch of it."

The imagery of the sun and the forest

While Matt was waiting for his supper to cook, he observed the slanting of the sun and the shadowing of the forest. The narrator writes, “He was sitting on the flat stone that served as a doorstep, waiting for his supper to cook. The late sun slanted in long yellow bars across the clearing. The forest beyond was already in shadow.”
