Goi is “an official of the fifth class court rank.” He longs for yam gruel. Goi is the poster child of scorn in “Yam Gruel” because all people mock him, yet he does not put up a fight because he is dejected.
Fujiwa Toshihito - “Yam Gruel”
He is “the son of Tokinaga, who was Finance Minister under the regency of Mototsune” who gives Goi the opportunity to fill himself up with all the yam gruel that he desires.
