This book is a biography by Jeff Hobbs about a young man called Robert DeShaun Peace, a smart and clever young black man. Peace was born in a ghetto in New Jersey. With a mother working long hours in a kitchen and a father convicted for two murders, he had a hard childhood. Peace was a determined and hard working child and through his brilliance, he got a full scholarship to Yale University.
After getting his degree, he went back to his home to teach at a school. The school, The Catholic High School, was the school he went to himself. Here he was dragged to the streets and sadly started doing drugs and getting into drug dealing. At the very young age of thirty, he was murdered.
Jeff Hobbs, the author, was Robert DeShaun Peace's roommate at college. He decided to write a biography about his friend after attending his funeral. Through Hobbs's writing, we learn about Robert Peace and his wonderful personality and difficult life. Jeff Hobbs gives the reader an amazing insight and writes well.
