Fight for Freedom
The author uses her words to inspire freedom fighters in colonial India. In the Forest, the poem encourages freeing yourself from memories and grudges that may be holding you back from realizing your true self.

Dreams
In the Autumn Song, the character is in despair because of the loss of his dreams. In the Cradle Song, a mother puts her child to sleep as she sings about good dreams and a night of peaceful sleep. In the Forest, the character is stuck in terrible dreams that she cannot escape. Only by destroying the evil dreams, can she break free from the nightmare. In My Dead Dream, the character of the poem is haunted by a dream that she buried deep a long time ago.
