Who are These Gods, Anyway?

Students will understand more about the background of several major characters in the I[Odyssey]

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.R.3 ; CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.SL.4

Structure:

Separate the students into groups. Each group should choose a deity featured heavily in the text—for example Athena, Zeus or Hermes—and research that god's character and duties in terms of Greek mythology. They should find out about their role in the Iliad and various other myths, and be able to explain how their assigned god fits into the pantheon.
