Succor

To aid or assist someone in a hard time.

Edifice

A large and imposing building.

Artifice

A device used to trick someone.

Implacable

An adjective describing someone who is not able to be appeased.

Temporal

Something which is related to time.

Auspices

An omen for things to come; a noun describing something which is prophetic.

Aboriginal

The first people or things who were present in a place, like the Native Americans in the United States.

Preening

The process by which someone works hard to make themselves look more attractive so that they could admire their own appearance more.

Anthropophagi

A cannibal

Overweening

Someone who is overconfident and conceited.

Ad infinitum

Someone which happens repeatedly, seemingly forever.

Writ

A command that comes from a legal authority.

Sutured

Something which is sewn shut (in context, eyelids).

Indignity

A shame or humiliation.
