Why did Robin Hood break the law? Why did the outlaws support him?

Robin Hood uses his status as a thief and criminal to subvert the Sheriff of Nottingham, who keeps his people in povery. He is fighting against injustice, and he inspires the "Merry Men" who follow him to fight alongside him in order to better the lives of ordinary citizens.
