He and his companions, called the Merry Men, live in Sherwood forest and go on many adventures to rob from the rich and to feed the poor. The novel follows many stories, including from the moment Robin Hood becomes an outlaw and has many fights with the authorities until the time when he becomes a part of the King's advisors.
The book was written by the author after reading ballads and he wanted to create a heroic character who does good by feeding the poor. The book was written by the author to mainly grasp the attention of children readers who would view Robin Hood as a hero of the people.
The book has been extremely well-received by critics and readers and Robin Hood immediately became a children favourite. The book has garnered wide-spread success and has been many times turned into a full feature film, with the most recent one being a major Hollywood film.
