The Memory Police Irony

The Memory Police Irony

Situational irony: Mother’s statues

It is ironic that the protagonist remembers her mother’s statues from so long ago when her mother herself tried to get her to remember things from her past, such as the scent of her favorite perfume, but to no avail.

Dramatic irony: The trapped typist

The story of the typist that the protagonist is writing about has many similarities to herself, in that both feel like they have no say in what happens to them and are subdued by external figures.
