    How does the novel describe the mob forming in Wellington? What is motivating the mob? What purpose does it serve?

    Students should observe that while the mob considers itself a force for justice, it's clear that the white people just want to do violence to Black people. However, some might also observe that the mob's actions prove the point of the editorial in the Black newspaper: that lynchings primarily exist to establish white supremacy.
