Micco
Micco is the central character, a young boy with a Scottish father and a Creek mother. After growing up, Micco witnessed the brutality of slavery. For instance, Micco becomes a successful farmer, but a white man comes and takes his plantation by force.
Samuel Pinchard
Pinchard is the white man who enters Micco’s life, steals his land by force, and enslaves his people.
Beauty
Beauty is an offspring daughter bought by Pinchard as an enslaved person. Pinchard uses Beauty as a sex pet, and he commonly refers her to as Aggie.
Nick
Nick is the father of Aggie’s granddaughter. When Aggie tries to organize for her daughter, granddaughter, and Nick to escape from the plantation, only Nick manages to escape.
Ailey
Ailey is a young woman and the latest descendant of Aggie in the 20th century. Ailey lives in the unidentified city, but she remembers the early days when she used to visit her grandmother (Aggie) in Georgia at Pinchard’s plantations.
Lydia
Lydia is Ailey's sister who is struggling with drug addiction. Their grandfather sexually abused Lydia and Ailey, and they share a disturbing past.
Uncle Root
Root is Ailey’s uncle who secures her a research assistant position at a college where he is a professor.
Rabbit
Rabbit is a young woman burnt dead in 'Left Cabin' where she was a sex pet for Pinchard.
Leena
Leena is a young woman sexually abused by Pinchard, and she died alongside Rabbit in the 'Left Cabin.'
