    How does a young boy like Bell end up on planet Mars?

    The establishment of the Nanny program in 2091 in America forces every person rocketing to planet Mars to bring along an orphaned child to be part of the new community in space. Therefore, Bell being an orphan, a person who wants to live in space, takes him to Mars. On planet Mars, there is a small colony comprising of few people and four teens. The orphans are taken to Mars while they are young and do not remember much about their life on Earth. However, the adults can vividly remember how life was on planet Earth.

    Why are the children on planet Mars going against the chief rule of not interacting with other foreign countries?

    Bell and other children are taken to Mars as infants and do not know anything about foreign countries. However, Bell and his fellow children want to explore and discover what is hidden in foreign countries. Therefore, one day these children disobey the law of the settlement and cross over to the other world to explore and discover new things. When they are discovered, the authorities reprimand them, but they are later released.

    What is the main conflict in Lion of Mars by Jennifer L. Holm?

    There is a major conflict between the authorities on Earth and Mars. For instance, Commander Sai on planet Mars is restricting people not to visit any foreign countries, and he has a restrained relationship with the leadership of planet Earth. Therefore, food and medical supplies from planet Earth to Mars are inadequate. When a dangerous virus invades planet earth, all adults die, and the medical supplies from Earth do not arrive on time. However, the children break the law and run to neighboring countries for safety.
