An Alternative Ending

Objective:
Students will better understand the author's narrative choices by considering alternative endings for the novel.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.9-10.5
Structure:
Begin by facilitating a general discussion about the novel's final section, particularly the ending itself. Encourage students to discuss what was unexpected, what they liked, how the ending tied together the novel's themes, etc. Move the discussion toward what, if anything, the students would change.
