The House at Riverton is the breakout novel of Australian novelist Kate Morton who resides in London. It was originally published in 2007 by Pan Macmillan in the United Kingdom. The novel has also been released under the alternative title The Shifting Fog.
Morton's novel is set in Riverton Manor in the United Kingdom in 1924, and tells the story of Grace Bradley, a maid who worked at the manor in the 1920s and the only individual to bear witness to the shooting that happened that. The novel is told as a flashback, with Grace revealing the secrets she had been keeping under wraps all her life.
The novel was largely well received by critics and readers alike with the Guardian praising it as "masterly".
