Bouncing Tigger
To get children’s attention, the authors of children books turn to imagery more often then to any other device. Tigger in the given situation is so vividly described that it is easy to provoke an image of an animal jumping about, and even creating some troubles: “Tigger had been hiding behind the trees and jumping out on Pooh’s shadow when it wasn’t looking”. When all the friend visit Eeyore, the last one asks Pooh to tell Tigger to do his exercises somewhere else, as “he will be having lunch directly, and doesn’t want it bounced on just before he begins”
Pleasant morning
One morning Pooh was in mood to visit someone. On his way to Owl he came to the part of the stream with stepping-stones, and sat in the middle one, “the sun was delightfully warm, and the stone he had been sitting on was so warm that Pooh decided to go on being Pooh”. The image of a stream and stepping stones is a perfect way to catch the attention of a child.
Summer
One summer morning Rabbit, Piglet and Pooh were sitting at the door and Rabbit was telling them something. Rabbit was an animal with brains so he talked a lot. But summer forest “full of gentle sounds” was telling Pooh to listen to him, and not to Rabbit. This was “a drowsy summer morning” and together with Rabbit’s chatting provides an image of dreamy beautiful forest with dreamy animals.
