Creation
Gregory of Tours reports, "In the begging the Lord Shaped the heaven and the earth in his Christ, who is the beginning of all things, that is, in his son; and after creating the elements of the whole universe, taking frail clod he formed man after his own image and likeness." Gregory of Tours alludes to the creation accounts outlined in Genesis. The blatant allusion and paraphrasing surmises that the bible is the main reference which Gregory of Tours refers to. He basically reports all the details incorporated in the Genesis stories.
Catholicism
Gregory of Tours confirms, "I desire first of all to declare my faith so that my reader may have no doubt that I am Catholic." Gregory of Tours' disclosure informs the reader that the assertions outlined in the text are from the perspective of an archetypal Catholic. Therefore, the reader's interpretations ought to be made in the context of Catholicism and not broad Christianity. Moreover, Gregory of Tours prepares the reader about the likelihood of finding Catholic doctrines in the text.
War
Gregory of Tours notes, “I am weary of relating the details of the civil wars that mightily plague the nation and kingdom of the Franks; and the worst of it is that we see in them the beginning of that time of woe which the Lord foretold: "Father shall rise against son, son against father, brother against brother, kinsman against kinsman.” Wars are omnipresent among the Franks and they are attributed to intense rivalry. The wars are alluded to in the Bible and they result in the destruction of cities. The Biblical verse confirms that war is an ancient practice. Kings are motivated to indulge in war with the objective of trouncing their enemies and demonstrating their powers. The kingdoms involved in the civil wars are motivated by the desire for more dominions, treasuries and lands. Internal divisions in kingdoms contribute to destruction. Other wars are waged against the heathen who are deemed to be ungodly people worthy of destruction.
