Gus
The main protagonist of the book and a member of the Royal Airforce, and the source of contact with the Gremlins to get them to join the war effort. He initially encounters the gremlins when they destroy his Hawker Hurricane but he manages to use his initiative and quick wit to convince them to band together to defeat the Nazi's.
Gremlins
The gremlins and a band of previously unknown creatures that go around sabotaging the warcraft and interfering with the war. They fight amongst themselves and struggle to come to work as a team, until Gus intervenes. From here on, they learn to fix the damaged plane and help Gus with the war.
