Mitch

Mitch is the novel's protagonist, an intelligent international lawyer with a record of accomplishment and excellence. Mitch lives with his wife Abby and family in Manhattan, New York. Mitch is a partner in one of the largest global law firms, Scully and Pershing, in New York. Mitch has had a fair share of successes and obstacles in his career. The biggest challenge Mitch has encountered is the elimination of witnesses by the accused persons and the suicide of the plaintiffs.

A close mentor and partner of Scully and Pershing, Luca, requests Mitch to undertake a Libyan case involving a Turkish construction company and the Libyan government. Luca asks Mitch to accept his daughter, Giovanni, to help her in the case. The case's events are catastrophic because unknown people kidnap Giovanni. Mitch is frightened because he does not know if he is the next victim. Mitch suspects Muammar Gaddafi and his government operatives as the main kidnappers.

Abby McDeere

Abby McDeere is Mitch's wife, a brilliant and supportive woman whose primary purpose is to help her husband excel in his career. When Mitch travels to Libya to undertake a deadly case, Abby remains behind to gather intelligence for her husband. Abby reveals to Mitch that the people who kidnapped Giovanni need $400 million for her release.

Luca Sandroni

Luca Sandroni is Mitch's mentor and experienced partner at Scully and Pershing Law Firm. Luca starts a case involving the Turkish construction company and the Libyan government. The Turkish construction company claims the government failed to deliver payment after completing the Great Gaddafi Bridge. However, Luca's failing health hinders him from finishing the case. Luca requests Mitch to undertake the case alongside his daughter, Giovanni.

Giovanna

Giovanni is the daughter of Luca Sandroni and Partner of the Scully and Pershing Law Firm, London branch. Giovanni is a courageous and intelligent lawyer who has won several cases like her father. When Giovanni goes to help Mitch complete the Libyan case, Mitch feels unwell and asks her to proceed to visit the Great Gaddafi Bridge. Unfortunately, unidentified people kidnap her and kill her driver and guards. The kidnappers demand a ransom of $400 million for her release.

Muammar Gaddafi

Gaddafi was the president of Libya in 2005 when the Turkish construction company accused the government of not paying for the work done as agreed in the terms and conditions document. The company went to court. However, Gaddafi and his operatives were not willing to pay, and they resorted to playing dirty games, including kidnapping the lawyers to derail the case.
