The Dragon Reborn Analysis

The Dragon Reborn is a fantasy novel written by American author Robert Jordan, and was first published by Tor Books on September 15, 1991. The book is the third in his Wheel of Time series and was preceded by The Great Hunt (1990).

The book follows on from the previous novel, with Rand al'Thor being declared the Dragon Reborn, which leaves him being hunted by the Darkhounds and Darkfriends. Simultaneously, Elayne Trakand and her crew are set out to hunt the Black Ajah, which puts her at risk of death from the duplicitous Lord Gaebril.

The book was extremely well received with SFX stating that it was “A fantasy phenomenon ” and the New York Times stating that “Jordan has come to dominate the world that Tolkien began to reveal.”
